Both Texas Tea Butter and Texas Tea Buttercream are hair and beard care products made by the Texas-based brand JustinTime LLC located in Houston, TX; however, there are some differences between the two products.
This blog will discuss the key differences to better assist you in choosing which product you would benefit the most from purchasing.
Texas Tea Hair & Beard Butter is a product similar in texture to a solid balm. It is made with all-natural ingredients, including hemp seed butter, pumpkin seed butter, argan oil, baobab oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, and your choice of essential oils. It is designed to provide a medium hold for your hair and beard while also conditioning and moisturizing them. The butter is intended to be scooped out of the double-walled insulated jars and rubbed between your palms to soften it before applying it to your hair or beard.
On the other hand, Texas Tea Hair & Beard Buttercream has a lighter texture and is more like whipped cream. It is also made with natural ingredients, including hemp seed butter, pumpkin seed butter, argan oil, baobab oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, and your choice of essential oils. It is designed to provide little to no hold for your hair and beard while also moisturizing and nourishing them. The buttercream is intended to be scooped out of the double-walled insulated jars as well and applied directly to your hair or beard.
While both Texas Tea Hair & Beard Butter and Texas Tea Hair & Beard Buttercream are designed to condition and moisturize your hair and beard, the main difference between them lies in their texture and how much hold each provides. The Texas Tea Butter has a firmer texture and is applied by rubbing it between your palms to soften it, but once applied to the hair it offers more hold, while the Hair & Beard Buttercream has a lighter texture and does not offer much hold to the hair.

The first similarity that we want to highly is that both have humectant properties. Humectants are substances that help to attract and retain moisture, which can help to improve the health and appearance of your hair. This can help to prevent dryness, which can lead to brittle and damaged hair. By retaining more moisture, this can also help to improve the elasticity of your hair, which will make your hair more flexible to reduce the risk of breakage and split ends.
The reason why we wanted to ensure both products had humectant properties is because as a 360 waver, it is important to enhance your curl definition. Humectants can help to prevent frizz, which can lead to more definition to your curls. The way that it does this is because they retain moisture and they also protect your hair from environmental damage.

]]>Growing a beard is not easy, but taking care of your skin is just as important. In this blog, we will discuss what are the best practices to take amazing care of your skin while keeping your beard in style!
]]>However, growing and maintaining a beard is not always a walk in the park. It comes with its own set of concerns, which includes getting dry and flaky skin, having dandruff, irritation, acne, and other skin problems. In this blog, we will discuss what are the best practices to take care of your skin while keeping your beard in style!
One note to keep in mind is that taking care of your skin should not be complicated or a hassle, even with a beard. But how do we practice low maintenance yet efficient care for our skin and beard? Let’s read on!
It’s crucial to use the correct shaving techniques whenever you trim your beard. If not, your skin may end up with red bumps, dry skin, and irritation.
To shave properly, make sure you start stroking your razor in the direction of hair growth.
It is very important to keep the shaving pressure light rather than rough and maintain a slow speed instead of rushing. Gentle and slow strokes are important to avoid razor bumps. When it comes to selecting shaving blades, choose the ones that are not dull. The one that we recommend is a straight edge razor by Utopia:
Note: In terms of usage, it is wise to use a razor blade only five to ten times before tossing it in the trash can.
If you have sensitive skin, you may have to consider using a soothing aftershave balm that has natural and harmful-chemical-free ingredients as well. Choosing such ingredients also helps to promote sustainability. The reason why this is good is that you take care of your skin while remaining friendly to the environment.
Brushing your beard offers multiple benefits. It cleans and neatens your beard, helps distribute nourishing skincare products, promotes blood flow, and encourages hair growth.
But remember, choosing a beard comb made for your beard is important as it can aid in spreading your skin’s natural oils and better shave off dead skin cells. So, if you have a fairly bushy beard, a beard comb is the way to go.
Consider also using a wooden beard comb to stimulate blood flow in your face and ensure healthy beard growth. Avoid using a cheap comb as it can damage your hair follicles.
Like most people, you may probably clean your beard using the same shampoo for your hair. This is not a cause of concern unless your shampoo is infused with moisture-stripping sulfates and other harsh ingredients. We recommend the PURA D'OR Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner:
Still, keep in mind to use shampoo for beard cleansing ideally once a week and a conditioner about three times weekly. This will still depend on your beard needs and its length.
The key to warding off beard dandruff, ingrown hair, and dull skin is regular and consistent exfoliation. In the same way, your scalp feels flaky and gets dandruff, and so does the skin under your beard. Therefore, consider using facial scrub that can better remove dead skin cells and keep your skin moisturized.
Exfoliating can be done in two easy ways. First, you can comb your beard while whisking the brush across your skin with a boar brush. This way, you can stave off dead skin cells and flush them out in the shower. Aside from this, you can also detangle your beard. Secondly, apply an exfoliating serum to your skin under the beard after you cleanse and dry your face. Choose products that contain ingredients such as salicylic or glycolic acid to dissolve dead skin cells better.
For many, exfoliating twice a week is recommended.
Moisturizing your beard and skin day and night is crucial to keep your skin at its best. This is because it can help soften your skin and beard hairs. Without it, the skin under your beard can get dry, itchy, and flaky.
In addition to rubbing facial moisturizer into your beard, you should also consider using beard oil that is formulated to rejuvenate your beard and the skin on your face by penetrating the hair follicles in your beard. This is why Texas Tea Beard oil is made with the lightest ingredients on the market to also keep flyaway hairs at bay.
To know what moisturizer and beard oil work best for you, identify your skin type and assess your beard length. Choose only those with natural and synthetic-free ingredients to maximize their skin and hair benefits. This is one reason why we offer Texas Tea Hair and Beard Oil without fragrances added to ensure our customers have options in their beard and skincare.
Using a face mask is already a huge part of one’s daily outdoor lifestyle. But did you know that a face mask can also affect your beard and skin health? There are protective face masks that wrap your beard instead of only compressing it.
Opt for a medical-grade sheet mask, the kind that does not stick to your facial hair. Make sure to also regularly replace it to avoid skin irritation.
Cleansers are generally easy to distribute throughout your beard since they build a lather and are easy to apply evenly. However, remember to not use a cleanser with harmful chemical ingredients as it can dry out your skin even more and cause beard dandruff. Choose also products that have oil cleansing properties to ensure you strip off excess oil that may cause acne.
Instead, select a cleanser that both cleanses and nourishes. One that is gentle yet works powerfully on skin. Keep a pH-balanced cleanser (between 4.5 to 5.5) to ensure that your skin is being refreshed and protected from irritation at the same time.
Skincare and beard care can coexist. To make this possible, level up your skincare products by choosing those that are free from harmful chemicals and are pH balanced.
Also, consider the tips above and you’ll surely ensure your facial skin health and keep your beard in style in the healthiest possible way.

In this blog post, we will explore the differences between dandruff and dry scalp, and discuss how Texas Tea hair products can treat both issues.
]]>Do you know what is the difference between dry scalp and dandruff? If not, you are not alone, but did you know that millions of people suffer from both dry scalp and/or dandruff every year.
In this blog post, we will explore the differences between dandruff and dry scalp, and discuss how Texas Tea Hair Products can help treat both conditions.
Both show signs of "flaky scalp," which can make it tricky to tell the difference without a dermatologist's help.
Dandruff is a common condition that causes the skin cells on the scalp to produce white flakes (or yellowish flakes), it may become itchy and it comes and goes depending on how to treat your scalp.
It is can be associated with seborrheic dermatitis. This is a skin condition in which the yeast lives on the skin, or by stress, cold, or overall health. If left unchecked the fungus produces mild inflammation on the scalp that produces more dead skin cells that lead to other symptoms such as flakes and itchy scalp.
On the other hand, dry skin happens when the hair or scalp loses too much water and is related to having dry skin in other places as well. Some hair care products can dry and irritate the scalp by stripping the natural oils from your skin such as harsh shampoos or drying hair products.
Cold weather can also lead to dry scalp because there is not much humidity in the atmosphere, which results in dry air, dry hair, and a flaking scalp!
Dandruff is caused by a skin fungus that grows on the scalp.
Dry scalp is caused by a lack of oil and moisture in the scalp.
Dandruff can be treated with over-the-counter anti-fungal dandruff shampoo.
Dry scalp can be treated with a moisturizing shampoo and moisturizing conditioner.
Dandruff is more common in men than women.
Dry scalp is more common in women than men.
Dandruff can also be treated with home remedies like apple cider vinegar or olive oil.
Dry scalp can be prevented by using a humidifier in your home.
The easiest solution to getting rid of those pesky flakes is to choose the correct shampoo. You want to use any of the following to kill the fungus on your scalp:
Head and Shoulders, Jason Dandruff Relief 2 in 1 is known as one of those antifungal drugstore shampoos that are gentle to be able to use every day.
Selsun Blue shampoo inhibits fungus and prevents the loss of too many skin cells. Before applying a shampoo containing selenium sulfide, ask your doctor if it's safe for color-treated or gray hair because it can alter the color of your strands.
Neutrogena T/Sal shampoo eliminates extra scale from your scalp before it can flake. It should be noted that salicylic acid has the potential to dry out the skin and produce more flaking in some individuals and this is why we recommend it last.
For a quick comparison of the main symptoms, refer to the following:
When it comes to treating dandruff, people often recommend using apple cider vinegar, CBD products, and witch hazel to treat various medical issues. However, there is not enough evidence to support the safety or effectiveness of any of these remedies for treating seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff.
It is recommended to use anti-dandruff shampoo, but you may want to contact a board-certified dermatologist for the best dandruff shampoos to use because using the wrong shampoo could lead to contact dermatitis.
To combat dry and itchy scalp, you may also want to look into your shampoo routine to avoid excessive washing, as this leads to scalp dryness by removing the natural oils your scalp needs. It should be noted that dry scalp can be caused by using dry shampoo that strips your hair too much.
We recommend finding a gentle shampoo with coconut oil or jojoba oil as an active ingredient. When you are in the shower, use warm water not hot water, or wear a shower cap to protect the hair when you are not washing your hair.
We know that dandruff is common and if you have it, you know that the skin cells can become itchy...very itchy. Since it is caused by a fungal infection, you may be concerned, but it is okay to scratch your scalp. You make notice dandruff flakes all over your clothes afterward, but this does not mean that you have poor hygiene.
The only word of caution is to make you notice how often your dandruff appears in between your wash days because this may mean you are not washing your hair enough or you need to ditch the regular shampoo you are using and begin using an anti-dandruff shampoo. If you stick with a normal shampoo for too long and you continually scratch your scalp all the time, you could experience hair loss or bald spots.
Millions of people suffer from dry scalp and dandruff every year, but with Texas Tea Hair Care products, you don't have to be one of them! We believe that you deserve to have healthy, flake-free hair! That's why we have developed the "Texas Tea" line of hair products that have been specifically designed to combat dry scalp and dandruff with our oil, butter, and/or buttercream formulas. Not only do they work well, but they also smell amazing!
The product that we recommend the most is our Texas Tea Hair Oil with essential oils because it can be used as a scalp treatment since it comes with a child-resistant dropper cap for proper treatment to the areas that need it the most. The oil is made to provide moisture to your scalp with the main ingredients, but the key ingredient to fight dandruff and reduce inflammation is our combination and use of essential oils (peppermint and tea tree oil) that are safe for the scalp and skin.
These two essential oils combined become an extremely powerful anti-microbial and anti-fungal force that eliminates bacteria, viruses, and fungi to rid the scalp of dandruff. This combo has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce any itchiness on the scalp caused by inflammation. It also seeks to boost circulation to stimulate blood flow in the scalp to promote healthy hair growth leaving your scalp with a cool and soothing sensation if used during a scalp massage. There is no need to use too much oil because a little goes a long way to combat dandruff.
The majority of dandruff may be treated with over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoo at home. If you've used a dandruff shampoo for at least a month but your flakes are still present, gotten worse, or your scalp skin appears red or inflamed, make an appointment with a dermatologist to get evaluated.
Your doctor will provide you with the right treatment after examining your scalp and skin to see whether you have dandruff. They can rule out diseases like eczema and psoriasis, which may cause flakes due to the skin on the scalp. Even though most dandruff shampoos work, your doctor can prescribe specific shampoos to help get rid of the cause of the flakes or other prescription-strength treatments besides a shampoo.
]]>Within the wave game, people tend to ask what makes Goat Drip Butter worth the cost and some tend to wonder if Texas Tea Butter is better even though it is more affordable in cost. The intention of this article is not to start a battle between the two products or brands. You can purchase whichever you want to try for yourself.
It should be noted that the Goat Drip brand offers many different types of products, while the Texas Tea brand focuses on quality ingredients. We aim to write an unbiased blog about what customers have shared with us to help more of our customers make better-informed decisions regarding their hair care routine in choosing a hair butter for 360 waves, locs, braids, or natural hair.
The Houston-based Texas Tea Hair Care brand aims to make products that are made with quality ingredients and they emphasize customer satisfaction as a pillar of their success. While the Los Angeles-based Goat Drip Hair Care brand seeks to flood the market with a variety of different products driven by brand name popularity as a selling point. With the brief introduction, here are 5 reasons why Texas Tea is better than Goat Drip.
They often say less is more and when it comes to products, the Texas Tea brand stands behind that by focusing on making fewer products with higher-quality ingredients in each that are 100% natural, while the Goat Drip brand uses cheaper ingredients to make more variation of similar products.
In this blog, we are only comparing the products that each brand advertises as a butter and to remain unbiased yourself, all you have to do is look at the product labels for each brand when it comes to comparing the two different butters:
Pumpkin Seed Butter, Hemp Seed Butter, Argan Butter, Baobab Oil, Grapeseed Butter, Safflower Oil, Sunflower Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Peppermint Oil
Tangerine Butter, Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Hemp Seed oil, Argan oil, Jojoba Oil
Without going into more detail on the benefits of each ingredient, it is clear that Texas Tea Butter has more ingredients than Goat Drip Butter. If you do not know how to read the ingredient list on product labels, we will reference another blog to check out if you want more details, but it is important to note that "ingredients are usually listed in order from highest concentration to lowest concentration."
RELATED: HOW TO READ PRODUCT LABELS FOR HAIR PRODUCTS
What this means is that the top 2 ingredients with the highest concentration of each brand are pumpkin seed butter and hemp seed butter for Texas Tea, while Goat Drip has tangerine butter and beeswax. When it comes to making products, beeswax is used in hair products to help give them a harder consistency in order to make things like pomades so this would not classify the product as butter since it's the second ingredient even though it is marketed as a butter.
Compared to Texas Tea's top ingredients, both pumpkin seed butter and hemp seed butter are excellent sources of healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that the hair needs to become healthy and strong. But what makes these kinds of butter so special is that they are also high in protein. In fact, hemp seed butter contains all 20 of the amino acids needed to form a complete protein. This makes it an ideal choice for naturals and 360 wavers who may struggle to find products that build stronger hair so that it grows longer.
Therefore, when it comes to just looking at the ingredients list, Texas Tea Butter is a clear winner for this category.
NOTE: It should be stated that before Texas Tea hair products came onto the scene, many products made by small-owned businesses did not include an ingredient list, including the Goat Drip brand. Traditionally, others would either list their ingredients online or not even provide this information. It was not until JustinTime made the following video and created Texas Tea that many other product makers start listing their ingredients or supplying ingredient lists.
When it comes to hair products, texture and consistency are two very important factors to consider. The texture of a product is how thick or thin the product is, while the hair product's consistency is how runny or sticky it is. Both of these factors play a role in how the product will behave when applied to your hair.
Some products have a thick, creamy texture that spreads easily through your hair; others have a thin, watery texture that doesn't spread as well. Some products have a sticky consistency that can be hard to rinse out; others have a runny consistency that washes away quickly.
The key is to find the right texture and consistency for your own hair type. If you choose a product that's too thick, it will weigh your hair down and make it look greasy. If you choose a product that's too thin, it won't do much good at all. And if you choose a product with the wrong consistency, it will be difficult to apply and may not work very well.
Keeping the ingredients in mind, since Texas Tea's butter first two ingredients are two kinds of butter, you will notice that this product offers a pure butter texture and consistency. What this means in simple terms is that it is not hard to dig out of the container and it spreads very easily when rubbing your hands together.
The reason why this is important is that you want a product that will go into your hair very easily and the Texas Tea brand emphasizes using lighter ingredients when making the butter. Their customers state that it is easy to use and washes out easily as well while performing the "Wash & Style."
With the ingredients in mind, Goat Drip butter's first two ingredients are butter and beeswax. You may notice that this product offers more of a pomade texture with a harder consistency. What this means in simple terms is that it may be hard to dig out of the container with just your fingers and it does not spread very easily when rubbing your hands together.
The brand states that its butter offers "amazing hold," but butter is not traditionally known for doing this and the Goat Drip brand has come under scrutiny for using beeswax to make its butter. Their customers state that sometimes they have to use the back of their fingernails or even a spoon to get the product out of the jar.
In summary, the texture and consistency of the two brands' butters are noticeably different based on the ingredients used to make the two different butters. Texas Tea's butter is creamy and easy to apply since the top two ingredients are both butters, while Goat Drip's butter is harder due to the use of beeswax making it difficult to apply evenly, especially in colder climates.
Therefore, when it comes to looking at the texture and consistency of each, Texas Tea Butter is a clear winner for this category as well.
Let's be honest, scent, also known as fragrance, is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing which hair products you will spend your money on! Even though it should not be, as humans we are attracted to things that smell good. Also, when it comes to choosing to use a product, people naturally will smell it before they decide to read the ingredients.
Think about it – when you put on a new shampoo or conditioner, what’s the first thing you do? Smell it, of course! And why not? After all, if you cannot stand the smell, there’s no way you’re going to use it. The scent can make you feel happy, relaxed, energized – or any other number of emotions. And that emotional response is what keeps people coming back for more.
However, in the spirit of transparency, many scents are made by using fragrance oils or ingredients, and many times these ingredients can be harmful in high concentrations. This is why most products often list "fragrance" as the last ingredient on the list. If you see fragrance higher up on the list you may want to reconsider the product.
The Goat Drip Butter sold on the site does not have a fragrance listed, nor can you choose a fragrance so it is not possible to fairly access this category for their brand. It is quite alarming that they still do not list what is the scent of the fragrance being used to this day because they were asked from the beginning of their product creation to provide one to remain in compliance with the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Many of their customers; however, do admit that they love the way the product smells and state that the scent lingers for a few days.
The Texas Tea Butter comes in two options for choosing a fragrance. The first is their signature "Blueberry Yum Yum," which has become a crowd favorite and the second option is "Unscented." They also list the fragrance ingredient at the end of the ingredient list. Lastly, they felt offering an option that is unscented is important because some people are allergic to fragrances or simply prefer to not use them. The customers of Texas Tea Butter have stated that they love the fragrance chosen because their spouses always ask them what they put on to smell good.
In summary, the scent of the two brands' butters both smell great and are received well by their clients so no matter which one you choose, we are sure you will enjoy the fragrance.
However, when it comes the scent of each, the Texas Tea brand wins in this category because they go above and beyond to not only offer a great fragrance but also list it on the product label, as well as offer the option to purchase without the fragrance.
When it comes to buying hair products, shipping can be expensive. This is because most hair products are heavy and voluminous, making them difficult to ship without incurring high costs due to the weight of the products. For this reason, many people tend to want to purchase their hair products from local stores instead of online.
However, there are many benefits to purchasing hair products online, including the ability to compare prices and find better deals. It should be noted that most products in retail stores typically have chemicals added to them to preserve the shelf life and you may think it is cheaper to buy in the store, but that lower cost can be costing you the health of your scalp or hair.
Therefore, shipping costs should not be the only factor considered when deciding whether to purchase hair products online or from a local store.
The Texas Tea brand offers to ship for domestic orders and international orders with the option of first-class and priority shipping. They are also going to move to free shipping included business model in the future that will offer insured shipping on all orders at no added cost to the customer; however, as of now, they only offer free priority shipping on all orders over $60.
The Goat Drip brand offers to ship for domestic orders and international orders with the option of only priority shipping. They only offer free shipping on all orders over $150 in the United States.
With everything that we have discussed so far, the cost of shipping matters more to the Texas Tea brand in regards to offering customers the most affordable shipping cost. When choosing to make products, they considered offering the most and highest quality ingredients in smaller containers to lower the overall weight which drives shipping costs down.
On the other hand, the Goat Drip brand offers only priority shipping and this may be due to the weight of the products they make being offered in bigger sizes. Priority shipping allows businesses to ship products up to 70 lbs so this would make sense for their business model.
Therefore, when it comes to shipping costs, the Texas Tea brand allows more flexibility and lower cost for their customer, which makes them the winner in this category. Once they move over to a permanent free priority shipping option, they will clearly be the winner hands down!
Most people tend to think that if a product costs more, the ingredients in the hair products must be made with higher quality ingredients and are worth more. This is a common sales technique to trick consumers into spending more on products that may offer the same ingredients as others simply because the cost is higher. The cost of a product does not determine its worth, it is just the price that the product is being sold at.
As we have detailed above, the Texas Tea brand offers more and higher quality ingredients than the Goat Drip brand; however, the cost is lower than the Goat Drip hair products. We will break down why this may be to help you make an informed decision when you go to purchase either of the two.
The Goat Drip butter comes in a 4 oz double-insulated plastic jar and normally sells for $45. What this means is that at the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $45, Goat Drip sells at $11.25 per ounce.
The Texas Tea butter comes in a 2 oz double-insulated plastic jar and normally sells for $20, but is sometimes offered at a discounted rate of $10. What this means is that at the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $20, Texas Tea sells at $10 per ounce.
In summary, what this means is that at a per ounce metric alone not considering the types of ingredients being used, Texas Tea Butter is more affordable and it wins in this category as well, especially if you consider the previously stated category which has better ingredients. If you want to get the most bang for your buck, Texas Tea is the clear winner!

After reading each category, it is very clear why so many of our customers tend to state that Texas Tea Butter is better than Goat Drip Butter; however, as we stated at the beginning of this article, we wanted to write this to explain to new potential customers looking for a better alternative. Therefore, in summary, if you're looking for high-quality hair butter at an affordable price that does not keep you from using the best, we recommend Texas Tea.

Pictures can reveal a lot about your activities and personality. Your profile picture will be viewed by dozens of people and each will form their individual opinion about you. If your digital photograph makes it obvious you have damaged or frizzy hair, it’ll be a turn-off for many people. Your profile picture should be as close to perfect as possible. Using a photograph of Malcolm X or Rihanna will not be beneficial in a lot of cases. Keep these and their underlying message for your social media posts. Use frizz-free buttercream or hair buttercream for damaged hair before taking a selfie for your digital portrait. People will notice your features, hair, and teeth when reviewing your close-ups. If they aren’t impressed or curious about you, they might never look at your social media posts.
Bottom line
It’s a dog-eat-dog world where hundreds of people are looking for similar opportunities and a chance to prove their worth. To get anywhere these days, you need experience and expertise to be given a chance. If people aren’t impressed by your digital profile picture, they might never look at your bio-data. Using a backdated photo for your profile might backfire or raise unnecessary questions about your past. Applying hair buttercream for damaged hair might be your ticket to creating the best first impression with recruiters and other people that are important. Just the way smelly sweat can be a big problem, a photograph with dry hair that needs frizz-free buttercream will not meet expectations.

This blog will take you less than one day to learn how to get waves that will have Lebron James looking at your waves like this
The best way to start off with 360 waves is to have healthy hair! Hair health is often overlooked in men, but before you consider getting that 360 wave pattern, you should know that 360 waves require dedicated upkeep of maintaining a wash routine to keep your hair moisturized. Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp and you want to keep your scalp moisturized to ensure you keep your hair moisturized.
It should be noted that too much washing or using an extended period of leaving the conditioner in your hair is not beneficial. You want to ensure that you follow the instructions on the bottles to use the products correctly. On the opposite end, if you do not wash your hair enough, you may notice that your hair will become dry and brittle and you should consider washing more. I always suggest one to two washes in a week is more than enough especially if you are following my co-washing method hair tutorial. Once your hair is washed, you do not have to use a dry towel to dry your hair because it can cause damaged hair if you rub a cotton towel against your head. After washing your hair, simply use a 100% cotton t-shirt to pat dry your head to leave it a bit wet and not completely dry.
After you have cleaned your hair, you want to focus on using the best products to ensure that your hair retains the moisture from the wash as long as possible. Many people get lazy at this step and rely on frequent pomade use, but this is a big NO-NO! Pomades are advertised as helping you "create waves" or getting "deeper waves," but they can often clog your scalp in the long run and cause other issues later on down the road.
When it comes to using a hair moisturizer from the very beginning of my YouTube channel, I have preached using lighter moisturizers and/or oils. This is why it is no surprise that the only products that I have created in the Texas Tea product line are lighter products such as the Texas Tea Hair Oil with essential oils and Texas Tea Buttercream with essential oils. Each of the products has detailed instructions on how to use them to transform your natural curls into a desired wave style on the product labels but we like to say "Less Is More," our last tip is not to go crazy with the products because a little bit goes a long way. If your hair has dried before you could apply products, then you may have to use a hot towel that you have run under hot water in order to apply products only when moist speaking of the follicle.
Once you have applied the products to your hair, you need to understand that constant brushing for up to fifteen minutes is necessary when you first start, but if you brush your hair for thirty minutes, you will see more wave progress. It should be noted that the type of brush you use is very important at this step. Using a softer brush on your hair while it is still wet is not ideal. A soft brush is made to lay your hair down. To get 360 waves, you need a brush with pull to brush your hair everyday. You want to use a medium brush and if you would like to know the best types of medium brushes to use, I have made videos detailing each bristle type of Brush King's Torino Pro and Royalty Brush collection.
With the right brush, it can speed up the process tremendously because when you start brushing with a cheap brush, there will be more brushing involved; however, if you buy one of the brushes mentioned, you will notice that your brushing regimen may take 15 minutes or less when you start brushing your hair everyday with a quality brush to get waves.
When you brush your hair, the wave process technique involves starting from the center of your crown, which is known as the bald spot in your head, to brush forward in the same direction to get the same lines forming over time that create your 360 waves. If you started this process from a low hair cut, it may take two to at least three weeks to start seeing progress, and for some people, it may take up to six weeks depending on your curl type; however, when you brush your hair after it has been cleaned your focus is removing any excess liquid from either water or products in your hair. The reason why is because brushes are made with boar bristles and they mimic human hair, which is ideal when styling your hair because boar bristles absorb excess products. This is why you also want to avoid brushing dry hair because the bristles can damage your scalp if it is dry.
Now that you have styled your hair, we are at the easiest part...using a wave cap or durag to help keep your wave style intact while you sleep at night! Many people will say that a durag is to keep your waves in place or to save your progress and this is why they use the durag process faithfully every night, but in my experience, durags can sometimes shift at night causing your hair to move and leading to messed up waves in the morning. This is why I do not wear my durags like most people and I choose to wear them as shown in the following video:
As you will see, I always wear a wave cap on top of my durags to help me achieve the best-looking 360 waves possible. I only encourage wearing a durag at night time; however, you can choose to wear them throughout the day as well to help keep your hair laid.
When trying to get waves, this is not a hairstyle for long hair. The waving process works the best on short hair, but just because the hair is short does not mean there is no commitment involved. The training process to get perfect waves traditionally involved lots of time, but you are not trying to get perfect 360 waves. You are just trying to get 360 waves and the natural texture of your hair plays a major factor.
There are only three fundamental hair textures that determine your strand size. The first one is simply referred to as fine hair, the second one is medium hair, and then the last one is coarse hair. The following details how you can know what is your hair texture.
This video goes into greater detail regarding the 3 hair textures:
It is important to understand that everyone's hair is different...it is equally crucial to understand yours first! The five distinct types of hair are the following: kinky, coily, curly, wavy, and straight.
Depending on your hair type, you may be able to acquire waves in one day if your hair is easier to move. This may seem like a significant advantage; however, it may also be a liability because you have to worry about losing your wave pattern just as fast.
Now you know everything you need to know to get waves, but in a future blog, we will discuss the best waves haircut in order to keep them once you go to the barbershop. 360 waves are not achieved overnight; they require patience and a regimen that must be consistently followed in order to see results.
